1. What is the Tibet Travel Permit (TTP)?
Tibet Travel Permit (入藏函) is also known as the Ratification of Travel to Tibet or Tibet Visa, it is issued by the Tibet Tourism Bureau and a necessary document for foreign tourists who travel to Tibet and . If you do not apply for the Tibet Travel Permit in advance, you will not be able to take the planes, trains and other means of transportation to Tibet. According to relevant regulations, the Tibet Tourism Bureau does not accept applications for Tibet Travel Permit submitted by individuals. Therefore, visitors who need Tibet Travel Permit must apply through a qualified local travel agency in Tibet. 2. Who should apply for a TTB permit?
Tibet Travel Permit is an essential travel document for non-Chinese tourists to travel Tibet. The following types of tourists need to apply for admission in advance:

√ Overseas Chinese tourists who do not hold the passport of the People's Republic of China and a resident identity card
√ Taiwanese tourists
- Hong Kong and Macao tourists who hold Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents (commonly known as Home Return Permit) for a limited period of time can travel to Tibet without having to apply for Tibet Travel Permit.
- Diplomats, foreign journalists, professional media photographers and foreign government officials are unable to apply for Tibet Travel Permit through travel agency. The above personnel need to apply directly to the Foreign Affairs Office of the Tibet Autonomous Region to apply for Tibet Travel Permit.
3. Where need to check my Tibet Travel Permit?
Tibet Travel Permit is a must-have document for foreign tourists to travel Tibet. They need to check when they board the transportation to Tibet, including the airport and train station at the place of departure. In addition, it will also be checked when entering the Tibetan border. After entering Tibet, the Tibet Travel Permit will be kept by the tour guides for inspection.
4. What documents is required?
√ Itinerary information (Travel date, travel route, entry and exit of Tibetan city)
When foreign tourists are doing a Tibet travel plan, they can search for Tibet's tourist attractions online, find out which places they especially want to visit, and then inform the travel consultants through travel agency. They will design travel itinerary based on your travel plans, and will ask you when you will travel to Tibet, which city you plan to enter and where to go after leaving Tibet. This information will be submitted at the time when the travel agent will go to the Tourism Bureau to process the Tibet Travel Permit.
√ Personal Information (Passport and Visa photocopy or scanned photo）
Passport is a must-have for all visitors to travel abroad. Foreign tourists visiting China need to apply for an ordinary passport in advance. For other types of passports (such as official passports), please consult our travel consultants to see if you can apply for Permit or not.
There are many types of Chinese visas. The most convenient way to apply for Tibet Travel Permit is the China Tourist Visa (L Visa). Foreign tourists holding other Chinese visas are required to provide relevant certificates in addition to the Chinese visa or residence permit for foreigners. Such as:
A. Work Visa (Z Visa) - A work certificate or labor contract or salary certificate with official seal is required.
B. Study Visa (X1 Visa) - A student certificate or admission letter or student ID is required.
C. Visiting Visa (Q2 Visa) - An invitation letter from a Chinese relative or friend is required.
5. How to apply for Tibet Travel Permits?
The TTB permit should be entrusted a Tibet local travel agency to apply for from Tibet Tourism Bureau. We are a Tibet local travel agency. It is quite easy for you to get one with our help. A. Tibet Tourism Bureau does not accept individual applications for TTB permit. Visitors must apply for it through a travel agency.
B. TTB permit application must be done before your leaving for Tibet.

D. When there are important political events or any indication of such political or social unrest, the government may not issue TTB permit. It is still a problem out of our control, please do understand and take it into consideration when you plan your trip to Tibet.
6. How to get the Tibet Travel Permits?
After the successful applied TTB permit, we will use the SF Express to deliver it to your hotel or residential address you are living in mainland China. If you go to Tibet by train, we only need to send you an electronic version of TTB permit to you by email (except Chongqing, Lanzhou and Xi'an).
√ Due to time constraints, the TTB permit will not be delivered to the address outside China.

7. Other Tibet Permits you may need
Tibet Travel Permit is the most important permit for Tibet trip, but it is not the only permit you may need. Generally speaking, if you just visit Lhasa area, you don't need other permits. But if you extend your trip to other prefectures in Tibet, you will have to apply for several other permits.
√ Tibet Border Pass
Remote destinations, such as Mount Everest, Zhangmu, Yadong, Mount Kailash, Manasarovar Lake, etc., are located in the border area between Tibet with other countries. To travel to these destinations, one has to obtain a Tibet Border Pass (or Frontier Pass) which is issued by Tibet Armed Police Border Corps in Lhasa. It can't be applied by travelers individually. One has to contact a Tibet travel agency to apply the Borde Permit from the Tibet Armed Police Border Corps in Lhasa.
√ Aliens’ Travel Permit
Aliens' Travel Permit is a permit for foreigners to visit the areas outside Lhasa, like Shigatse, Shannan, Nyingchi, etc. Issued by Tibetan Local Public Security Bureau, it also known as the PSB permit, and can be easily applied in Lhasa, Shigatse, Nyingchi or other prefectures.
√ Tibet Military Permit
Visiting the unopened area only with the TTB permit is not enough. Military Permit is additional needed if your itinerary included some military sensitive places, including Ngari (Mt. Kailash, Lake Manasarovar, etc), Nyingchi (Pomi, Rawu, etc.) and some remote places in Shannan area.
√ Tibet Group Visa
Tibet Group Visa, also called Group Visa is a must document, along with Tibet Entry Permit used for tourists planning to enter Tibet from Nepal. As a special Chinese Visa, the Tibet Group Visa is valid for mainland China visit as well. After you finishing your Tibet tour, you can use the same Group Visa to extend your trip into other destinations of China. If you have such plan, we can apply for your Group Visa in the maximum validity.
