How do foreign tourists buy train tickets?
Purchase Platforms (there are two ways to buy train tickets in China):
√ You can buy tickets directly with the necessary certificate in the train station or train ticket sales point, but the disadvantage of this way of purchase is that in addition to providing valid documents, you also need to provide the Tibet Travel Permit. Generally, Tibet Travel Permit to the travel agency will be processed about 10 days in advance, and the train ticket will be issued one month in advance in China. If you buy the train ticket once you get the Tibet Travel Permit, most likely the tickets were sold out.
√ Buy online at the Ministry of Railways official website www.12306.com, which is a good choice for foreign guests living in the mainland. The disadvantage of this method is that the website needs real-name registration, and the system will review it after registration. It takes a train to take the train to buy on the official website. If you have a mainland friend, you can ask a friend to help with the purchase.
Documents required for ticket purchase
√ Foreign tourists, Taiwanese tourists and overseas Chinese tourists:
According to the real-name system of train tickets, valid passports and other valid identity documents are required for the purchase of train tickets in mainland China. The name of the passenger must be the same as the one used.
Due to the special nature of the trains entering Tibet, the original Tibet Travel Permit is required.
√ Hong Kong and Macau tourists:
Hong Kong and Macao visitors are required to hold ID cards and Chinese SAR passports.
It has been abolished that the Hong Kong and Macao personnel must provide the "Tibet Travel Permit". You only need to hold the "Hong Kong and Macao compatriots return home permit港澳同胞回乡证" (issued before 1998, valid for 10 years) or "Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents港澳居民来往内地通行证".
Notes when you booking tickets:
√ At present, the Ministry of Railways stipulates that train tickets can be issued one month in advance. Passengers can purchase at a ticket sales point or 12306 official website one month in advance. It is difficult to purchase Lhasa train tickets (especially during the peak season from July to September), please buy one month in advance to avoid missing time and train tickets sold out.
√ If you need to purchase the ticket office of www.chinabeautiful.com, you need to confirm it 35 days in advance, pay the full price of the ticket, and provide a scanned copy of the required documents for the purchase.
√ If the tourists buy the train ticket by yourselves, please exchange the paper ticket at least 2 hours in advance, especially in the peak season. For the train ticket issued by Lhasa, due to fewer stations in Lhasa Railway Station, there are many queues in the peak season, if you arrive too late, it will be late to pick up the ticket. Please arrive at the station at least 2 hours in advance. If it is purchased by our company, we will take out the train ticket in advance and give it to the tourists.
How to get to Shanghai Railway Station?
There are nearly one hundred bus routes passing through Shanghai Station and overnight night bus that operate overnight in Shanghai. Shanghai Metro Line 1, Line 3 and Line 4 pass through Shanghai Railway Station, so taking the subway is quite convenient.

What do you need to pay attention to when take the train?
√ You need to scan the Tibet Travel Permit, do not reduce or enlarge the scanned documents when printing, please print them into two pages according to the normal specifications (A4). During the train trip, the conductor will check everyone's Tibet Travel Permit from time to time, so the Travel Permit must be placed in order to avoid unnecessary trouble.

The volume is limited to the baggage cart, but the minimum is not less than 0.01 cubic meters. For items involving national restrictions on transportation, please provide the transportation certificate of the relevant competent authority when handling the consignment. No valuables such as currency, securities, precious cultural relics, gold and silver jewelry, archival materials, etc., and prohibited, restricted or dangerous goods are prohibited in the baggage.
√ The Tibet Plateau is located in a low-oxygen area. Traveling on the plateau has high requirements for physical conditions. Passengers may experience different degrees of altitude sickness. It is recommended to perform necessary physical examination before travel, and take it in advance or prepare appropriate anti-altitude reaction drug under the guidance of a doctor.
√ Some trains will be transferred at Xining Station, and all passengers will transfer to another train. Please accept and cooperate with the staff's organization and guidance.
√ When running in the Golmud-Lhasa section, the train will provide diffused oxygen supply and independent oxygen service. Please consult the train staff if you have any questions. During the oxygen supply, the whole vehicle is forbidden to smoke, and tourists who usually smoke should pay attention to it.
√ You should take more rest and less walking in the car, and take care of your belongings. Pay attention to the rest time of the stop when stopping the station, the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the car is large, do a good job of cold protection and warmth, and be careful of colds.

There are sockets under the corridor seat outside to charge, and the sides of the washstand can also be used. However, some sockets may be bad. It is recommended to bring a power bank. Make sure the phone is fully charged before going to the train.
